The Society's website hosting partner recently suffered a catastrophic failure to their server. Lance and Longbow Society Aims

Welcome to the web site of the Lance and Longbow Society, the World's premier medieval interest society. Formed in 1991, the aim of the society is to promote a historical and wargaming interest in the Middle Ages, the actual period covered is from the fall of the West Roman Empire to the end of the Italian Wars, a rough timeframe of circa AD 500 to 1526.


Our intention is to encompass not only the amateur historian and wargamer, but also the re-enactor and herald. In fact, anyone who is interested in things medieval.


Lance and Longbow Society Publications

The Lance and Longbow society also produces a bi-monthly issue of it's highly praised journal The Hobilar. This is packed full of articles to interest anyone interested in the medieval period. Every month we publish a sample article on the web site taken from past issues of The Hobilar.


The Lance and Longbow society has also produces a newsletter called The Scourer, which is sent out with The Hobilar, this contains all the latest news, where to see us on the convention circuit, places to visit, the re-enacting scene, web sites we know and love and updates on traders giving the members discount and any special offers. Just one more reason to join the Lance and Longbow Society.


Lance and Longbow Shows and Conventions

As well as producing a bi-monthly journal, the Lance and Longbow society also attends a variety of shows and conventions every year so why not come along to one of them and meet us in person. At most of the shows a demonstration games is usually put on and past copies of The Hobilar and other society products are available.
